Martin Neubert (DE), Philip Eglin (GB)

+ textile : Fern Liberty Kallenbach (DE/ US)

Taste Contemporary celebrates the opening of its new gallery at rue du Vieux-Billard with two exhibitions.

In a two-person show, the figurative work of German ceramic artist Martin Neubert is juxtaposed with textiles by Fern Liberty Kallenbach Campbell. Martin Neubert depicts the human figure in a sensitive, nuanced manner, guided by respect and esteem. He directs his attention primarily to the outsiders, the losers, the ‘clowns’ on the fringes of society, creating expressive images of them, which can awaken empathy but also disturb. This exhibition features a series of new works by Neubert.

Alongside this, Taste Contemporary presents a solo show by British artist Philip Eglin whose expressive ceramic work reflects and comments on contemporary culture. He is noted for his figurative work, in particular his Madonna series, which combines both reverence and irreverence and draws on many sources from popular culture through to high art and Abstract Expressionism. For this exhibition, Eglin has created new large-scale vessel forms.

Opening: 12 September, 5 pm – 8 pm
